"I choose to deal with the process of ageing. It may be that of the ageing process of materials through the inevitability of weathering. The ageing process of the human being is another aspect of this same sentiment. Unfortunately the current trend of perfection and airbrushing is so sadly the other end of the spectrum.
The ageing process, is to me, one of beauty and intrigue. Lines formed on the palm of a hand speak volumes of the initial opportunities present to one and the process of ageing and the intricacies laid before us.
Opportunities missed. Areas that have been , through no fault of our own, out of our control. We are the result of what has made us human beings. A web of an individuals process of moving through the difficult process of the survival of each day.
We look for answers. We search for reasons. But we are what we are. This is the human condition. Through my art I seek to explore the depth of the year on year, of the process of ageing. We applaud the beauty of ancient monuments and relics while despising the process of age upon our skins, seeking for any remedy offered to us. Eternal youth defies the process of wisdom. We have failed to keep to the rules if we show signs of the ageing process." |
